Earlier this year, my son and I took a trip to Chesterfield Farm in Melbourne's Outer East. It was a day with the Kindergarten class...we saw lots of animals, rode on the farm truck, fed the animals on a safari walk, and enjoyed the beautiful surrounds. I took advantage of the day and snapped away, and had two photo's of some beautiful Roosters. The result, after some flipping and cropping in Photoshop is this drawing. After a month of being unwell with bug, I found completing this quite difficult. Any artists will know how it feels when you lose your mojo. Nothing flows, nothing inspires. The world looks quite dull. Hence, the outcome of this drawing was a pursuit of light and joy, wonder and presence. I hope you enjoy it.
The Visitors, 33 hours, 32cm x 42cm, Stonehenge 245gsm, Prismacolor and Faber Castell Polychromos, Solvent for blending, Own Reference Giclee prints are available from the art store! Which one is the original drawing? The quality is quite astounding! I need to be careful that I don't send the original! kxx
Been quite busy lately... here is a work I wanted to do, my cousin Lee and her two sons Ned and Joseph, take an few years ago on the ferry home after a long tiring day....I felt this captured love, fatigue and time....a hard one also because of the immense detail and contrasts/ values/ lighting of the piece.
'Rest On The Ferry' - Faber Castell Polychromos, Prismacolors, 36cm x 24cm, Fabriano Artistico 300gsm paper, 30 hours, own reference. 100% pencil. And here is a new drawing! 'Happy- Portrait of Daya', 36cm x 22cm, Stonehenge 245gsm paper, Faber Castell Polychromos and Prismacolors, Gouache highlights, 19.5 hours, clients reference. This has come through a beautiful friend that I went to school with Canada when I was nine years old. We lost touch after many years of being penpals. Wendy saw a Karina's Fine Art add on facebook, and sent a message immediately wondering if it was her friend from Australia. Sadly, I only discovered the 'others' box a few months ago, and there was a message from her! Incredibly amazing. We have been writing again ever since! This is her daughter Daya- she is 10 and absolutely beautiful, just like her mother Wendy!
From her mum- "Daya means compassion. She is a girl who is so dynamic. My nickname for her is daisy or days. A month after this she shaved her head- that's my beautiful Daya!" Hope I have interpreted her well...it was an honour to do this portrait! kxx www.facebook.com/karinasfineart Well, what a brilliant, humbling and absolutely awesome thing I can NOW share with you!
