Witnessing an Illegal Artist makes YOU an accessory!

Picture
Illegal Artist, 32 x 42cm's (12. x 16.5"), Prismacolor, Faber Castell Polychromos, Caran D'Ache Luminance, Prismacolor Premier, based on photography by Frenzell Photography, with copyright permission. 71 hours.

2 months in the making and finally I have my first piece finished for 2016.  Hoo Bloody ray!!  lol
This dude is a cryptic one.  There's heaps of symbology and meaning, if you can find it.
Can you see the Angel behind him?   She has his back.  He's being watched over.
And there's a demon over his head too.   He's always there, messing with his head........
The balls.  What's with all of those balls you ask?  The balls represent the balls that he was trying to juggle, but dropped.....out of frustration and grief.   Someone keeps emotionally re-attaching themselves to him, and now he has to find some peace. So he's 'cutting the cords', or 'unbinding himself' from the person that just won't let go.
Two things- the '8's" that you can see that he is spraying in his street art?  Those are his way to cut the cords.
The art itself?  He's run away to this place, still hiding, fearful and tired, in a dark and dingy warehouse, hoodie up, and deep in his thoughts.  However, the colours and 'his' art are saving him right now........he's using it to express his mind and heal.................and we're his silent witnesses.
I thoroughly hope you enjoy this one........he was an absolute joy to draw.  kindly K xx

Beautiful

The 2016 accepted works to the Cambridge Studio Gallery 'Portrait Prize ' have been announced and I'm absolutely thrilled to announce that 'Beautiful', a portrait of my well, beautiful, 15 year old neighbor Emma has been accepted!!   Some of the very best portrait artists in Australia have entered to vie for a coveted prize......a month long solo show at the gallery. Honoured to be a part of it all!!

Running from Wednesday 10 – Saturday 28 February 2016, it has a reputation of 'feeding' the Archibald, with two entries last year having been accepted into the top Award in the country. Truly honoured to have been accepted in 2016- and a fabulous opportunity for coloured pencils to get another looksie with the Fine Art world.

Beautiful, Portrait of Emma, Fabriano Artistico paper, Prismacolor, Polchromos and Caran D\'Ache Luminance pencils, 42 hours, own reference. 30 x 40cm.

Australian Artist February 2016- coloured pencils standing out in the crowd!
Today was an awesome day.  I'm extremely humbled to share that 'Rest On a Ferry'- the portrait of my cousin Lee and her two sons Ned and Jake are on the FRONT COVER of Australian Artist February Edition.

There is also a step by step demonstration of the 'Roosters' and a comprehensive editiorial of coloured pencils and how to get yourself started in the medium!
It is such an EXTREME honour, as Australian Artist is the premier art magazine in Aussie land, and to be honest, if I had one dream when I started, it was to be featured in this magazine.  I have read it for many years and ooogled at the talent here in Aus, but to be in such great company, and to be able to chat about a passion is truly breathtaking and deeply humbling.
Thank you to Helen and the team at Australian Artist for allowing me the honour, and for supporting coloured pencils in Australia.

Grab your copy at ANY good Australian newsagents, or call (02) 9419 6333.  I hope you enjoy reading it!!! kxx

Some time ago, I did a drawing of a beautiful girl on a horse, 'her Confidant'.  The story of a woman and a horse, And she was one of most loved drawings.  She went on to sell at her first show....and my little 4 year old was gutted.  lol.  So, I promised to always draw her again for him.  Finally, I have managed to do so, same horse, same girl, same story.....different day.  I hope you love her, and hope the story takes you to their place.  kindly Karina xx

'They are always together, talking, exploring.  He loves it when she arrives after school, which then became after work, which changed to after the baby went to sleep, to now, after work again.
She chose him when he was just born, or perhaps, he chose her.
They have been together in the rain, sunshine, cold and heat, the whole time, she talked to him, telling him every part of her day, and he listened, taking it all in, just being there.
One day she didn't talk, she just cried and cried and he watched her weary face as she brushed it up against his, tears wetting his cheek and he could smell the salt, and her purfume, always her perfume. He loved her voice, and her smell.
Then one day, he had to leave her.  on a cold day. She talked and talked to try to get him to stay with her, but he let go.
He fondest memory of him is reaching out to his beautiful soft cheek and reassuring him as they rode that she would always be there to tell him everything, and would always love him.  She always was. She always did.  He took all of her secrets with him that day, for no one knew what he did.......her confidant. '

sI am very very very very thrilled to share that 'hoodie man' AKA Anonymous has taken 'BEST OIL IN SHOW' at the Berwick Artists Society 'Art Across the Ages' art show 2015.   This is first win ever for one of my oil paintings, and the little envelope had in it everything that every artist dreams of (besides money lol)- a wonderful gift voucher for art supplies at Senior Art, and I'm now dying to use it and get some more top  up pencils, and a set of watercolour pencils to turn my next dream into a reality- a children's book, written by myself and my little one, Hudson.  About a little boy and his teddy and their dog who wander into a beautiful park, and lose teddy, and how the dog escapes in the middle of the night and meets the most wondrous animals, makes new friends and eventually finds teddy for his human, only to get lost on the way home.  The hunt then begins for the little boy who is distressed to not only lose his best friend 'Teddy', but his other best friend, his dog..........  Let the dream making begin!  Thank you so much Berwick Artists Society for helping me on my journey!  Whoo hoooo hooodie man!!!  More oil paintings planned for next year.  kxx
