I have been blessed to have won a truly wonderful award at the Cardinia Grand Art Exhibition....my portrait of a little girl with her teddy 'Sad' has won first prize in the 'A La Mode' category, that is-" open section, all mediums". The prize was unexpected and I'm grateful beyond belief. The standard in this show is always extremely high, and it has attracted artists who are renouned in their chosen mediums for excellence. I'm honoured to be acknowledged in their presence. kindly Karina xx

'Unforgettable Angel 2' 23cm x 33cm, Primacolor and Polychromos pencils, 16 hours, 'Unforgettable Angel 1', stretched canvas, 33 hours, Oils, photo supplied by mother, Julie.
This beautiful woman passed on 5/1/2014 from a brain tumor, after finding it on 18/ 9/2013. She leaves two boys, Mickyle and Lochlan, both under 6 yrs. It was an honour to this portrait, one of two, the other is in oils. A few words from Mellisa's mother Julie..... "I've been given the opportunity to tell you about My Angel, introducing Mellisa-Lea, the painting shows all Her sheer beauty. As for her inner beauty, It was seen and felt by all who knew her. The endearing nature she had, touched all that came in contact with her. Her inspiration gave others a sense of hope, which was humbling to her & was a gift she carried with great modesty of an era of long ago. She was an Angel sent to me on this earth and now is Gods Angel for all. This is Mellisa-Lea." www.facebook.com./karinasfineart it is with the greatest of pleasure that I can share this article about my drawing and how I got started, what inspires me and what my favourite products and papers are! In the art world, few things will give you greater honour than to win a People's Choice Award, and to be asked to do a feature...to tell people, not only about your art, but about yourself. I have been afforded both with the Australian Coloured Pencils Network. Thank you so much Belinda Lindhardt and the ACPN, everyone feel free to have a read and a look, and if you are interested in coloured pencils, please remember to subscribe for the cost of a cup of coffee! What an honour! http://www.colouredpencils.com.au/blog/featured-artist-karina-griffiths/ kindly Karina xx First work for 2015.........'Reflective' 30 x 40cm, 25 hours, Prismacolor and Polychromos pencils, Canson Mi-teintes paper (blush). “Every now and then the lense will capture a soul. This is Hudson Charles, my little one. For me, this is more than a portrait- a likeness, an expression or face. It is an intense glimpse into an exclusive moment of character and mood, where Hudson was undisturbed by myself, the camera and the environment. He was in his own place, pondering something important to him and his world as a three year old. Hudsons depth of expression also ‘drew me in’ when I was completing this work as I contemplated what was behind his eyes......and perhaps, my life experience has been caught in this too. It is a work for him to carry forward in his life, a permanent record of intensity and thought, a reminder of who he was when we all saw what he might be, a portrait of promise.” www.karinasfineart.com https://www.facebook.com/KarinasFineArt?ref=hl And finally the beautiful girl and her little friend are finished and ready for the world! Varnished and just getting framed up......so looking forward to seeing her again! Oil paint, stretched canvas, 41cm x 51cm, 45 hours, Itutya photography. kindly K xx

This reference photo took my breath away with it's beautiful colours and rare look at a buddhist novice monk, strolling along, deep in thought, deep in commitment and totally unaware of the meditative purity he exudes.
