hours. This is a tragic story of a beautiful beautiful horse, Wahine, who left for stud, came home lame, gave birth to a beautiful foal called Lilly, and became so ill from infection that revaged her body, that she was put down, only weeks after the birth. There weren't many photos of Wahine, let alone her with Lilly, and when I was approached to do this portrait, I didn't know the story, and was reluctant given that the photo was so grainy and lacked resolution and asked why a photographer friend couldn't just 'get some more shots'. Then I got the story. Mum of the horses, Kathy, was overwhelmed when presented with this work, and she now has an eternal memory of her gorgeous girl and her beautiful baby. Lilly has stayed with the family and remains their favourite horse. After meeting Lilly I agree, she is beautiful, and apparently even eats shoelaces on your shoes when you stand by her......just like her mum Wahine. It was simply an honour to do this work. kindly Karina xx www.karinasfineart.com https://www.facebook.com/KarinasFineArt?ref=hl 37 x 27.5 cm, Kyslynskyy Photography, Prismacolor colour pencils, gouache
touches, 24 hours. Fabriano Bristol 300gsm. I feel very at peace when I look at this work, and was very at peace drawing him, and what struck me is the majesty and perfection of nature. I hope you like! kindly Karina xx Well, I have been blessed enough to receive a Highly Commended for 'I Don't Want To', at the Yakkerboo Art Show 2014, and there were some beautiful artworks by some extremely accomplished and established Australian artists. One of the judges was Geoff Sargeant, an excellent colour pencil artist, so it was a huge compliment to be noticed by such a successful and accomplished artist. To view Geoff's work go here.. http://geoffsargeantartist.com/. And so onto working towards the next art show now.......lots of new work to come. I so love drawing..............so very pleased that others are appreciating my images. kindly Karinaxx Sometimes, there is an image, that just makes you need to sit still and keep looking right into it...this s that image for me. It's quiet but present and almost surreal.
This Australian Pelican used to sit with me for hours when I would go to a place called Cape Petterson near Inverloch in Victoria....I would sit there until I had all of my work done.....Every now and then he would look over his shoulder and almost check to see if was working. One day I sat until the sun was setting and this is my memory of this beautiful bird, and that beautiful day. kindly Karina xx https://www.facebook.com/KarinasFineArt?ref=hl Prismacolor Pencils, 53 x 21cm, Fabriano Bristol 250gsm Paper, 30 hours,
reference photograph supplied with permission by renowned UK artist, Sue Warner. (hello again Sue! xx) This is a 'redraw' of a previous work. The original work sold to a family member to keep it in the family, sadly, they are a few states away, and I was hopeful to enter it into a show....so, redraw! It has been very interesting to see how my drawing has evolved over 12 months.....more detail and smoother coverage.....it was a good exercise. Hope you're all well! kindly karina xx https://www.facebook.com/KarinasFineArt?ref=hl http://www.paintingsilove.com/image/show/374976/sleeping-beauty-ii?path=artist&artist=karinagriffiths There is a story to this drawing, so please have a look at Paintings I Love to read (http://www.paintingsilove.com/image/show/374487/her-confidant?path=artist&artist=karinagriffiths), this was a wonderful piece to work on......and no, that is not a "younger" me on the horse!! lol, she's too beautiful to be me...thanks for the suggestion though.....huge hugs, kindly Karina xx
